An Anaerobic Digestion (AD) Biogas Plant is capable of treating and converting a wide range of organic waste materials from a variety of sources. A number of environmental and fiscal drivers have seen the UK show a positive commitment to increasing its energy production from the core biological processes that occur by processing waste at AD Biogas facilities.
The process of Anaerobic Digestion is used to produce a variety of energy including ‘green’ electricity, biogas for vehicle fuel, or turned into bio methane that can be fed into the national gas grid.
The AD process also produces usable by-products including an effective fertiliser, known as ‘digestate’, that is freely taken up by crops and grasses. Digestate fertiliser can easily replace more expensive nitrogen based fertilisers.
The AD market has seen sustained growth over the last few years, growing into a mature industry sector. Within the UK there has been a pronounced increase in the number of Anaerobic Digestion plants since 2010. The Biogas industry is such that it now offers fantastic opportunities for the UK to export its experience and capabilities across the globe.
Capita PROjEN have been involved in the design and build of a wide range of complex process plants for over 35 years. We are a key player in the AD and Biogas sector, providing award-winning and peerless expertise.
Consequently Capita PROjEN’s presence and reputation has grown greatly during this time, as many people realise that our design and build experience coupled with our expertise in Health & Safety and legislative compliance makes us the ideal partner for Anaerobic Digestion and Biogas developers and builders alike. We remain, (and always will be), technology agnostic despite pressure from various suppliers over the years. We have resisted the temptation to adopt any specific manufacturer’s technology as this would limit our technical solutions.
The Capita PROjEN AD/Biogas team is made up of a number of people who have been involved with some of the UK’s most iconic AD and Biogas installations.
The team is headed by Dr Nevin Elliott, (Engineering Director) who is supported by Dr Les Gornall and Dave Auty – probably the best known and most respected members of the AD community in the UK.
